GPSC launches GPSC Young Social Innovator 2018, encouraging young generation to compete in energy and environment innovation scholarship.

GPSC holds a “GPSC Young Social Innovator 2018” under the theme of “Sustainable Energy, Natural Resource and Environment” to nurture young generation and encourage them in realizing efficient consumption of energy and natural resources to reduce environment problem and strengthen communities’ economy along with the development of the country’s economy.

Mr. Chawalit Tippawanich, President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, said today (October 7, 2018) that the company has launched the “GPSC Young Social Innovator 2018” for the first time under the theme of “Sustainable Energy, Natural Resource and Environment”. The project aims at giving the young generation, ranging from high-school and vocational students, in the eastern areas of Rayong, Chonburi, Chantaburi, Trad and Chachoengsao provinces to show their new innovations, projects and products that help reduce social and environmental problems as well as preserve natural resources efficiently.

“It is the first time that GPSC holds the GPSC Young Social Innovator 2018 to be an arena for the Thai youth to show their talents in creating systematical idea to solve problems in terms of energy and natural resources. GPSC has set it as a priority to support new generation in creating talent and creating new eco-friendly innovations that help increase resources consumption efficiency, which is a crucial part in developing the country’s economy,” said Mr. Chawalit.

This project is a part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that complies with the world’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which can be applied to the company’s business strategy to help create added value to the society. The project create opportunity for the young generation to develop new innovations that lead to the development of prototype products which are able to help solve problem of the communities as well as develop the product further to be new social enterprises’ products. This will also help create participation between the communities and the company which will also strengthen local economies in the future.

This project opens during August 2018-February 2019 for students in levels of high school and vocational school. There are 20 teams that have passed through the first round, which will join a training course of design thinking concept, including analysis and synthesis process before getting into the final round. In the final round of GPSC Young Social Innovator 2018, there are senior judges to select the best 3 teams that would get scholarships to support their projects to help solve the communities’ problems with supports and suggestion from judges to operate the projects. Final progressions and result of the 3 projects will be judges in the final round in February 2019, when the winning team will be announced.

The final 3 teams to be selected into the final round today to participate in “GPSC Young Social Innovator Camp 2018 are as followings:

The winning award will be announced in February 2019 and the first winning team will get Bt.50,000 scholarship with a certificate. The second prize will be granted Bt.30,000 scholarship with a certificate, while the third team will receive Bt.10,000 scholarships and certificates
